Struggling to smile confidently? Do the size, color, or shape of your teeth bother you? Cosmetic dental treatments can transform your smile into one that makes you feel unstoppable. A common question is, “How long do cosmetic dental treatments take?” While some services take a few visits, others can be done in one. It depends on your teeth and the treatment itself.

Time Taken for Teeth Whitening and Cosmetic Dental Bonding

Teeth whitening and cosmetic dental bonding are treatments that can typically be done in one visit. They require little preparation beforehand and little to no additional aftercare.

Teeth whitening gets to the root of stains below your enamel. The longest part of the treatment is the bleaching process! It can be a quick 30 minutes or up to 90 minutes for a speedy in-office whitening treatment.

Cosmetic dental bonding follows a similar timeline. Depending on whether you’re adjusting one or more teeth, it can potentially be done in under an hour. Your dentist molds composite resin to cover minor imperfections and hardens it with a curing light. The whole process is quick and comfortable!

How Long Does It Take to Get Metal-Free Dental Crowns?

Metal-free dental crowns are a longer treatment option. Since they are more in-depth, they typically require at least two visits.

During the first visit, your dentist will take dental impressions and prepare the tooth that’s getting the crown. By the end, you’ll be fitted with a temporary crown. After your appointment, your dentist works with a dental lab to create a custom crown. This usually takes a few weeks, and your new crown will be ready!

During your second visit, your dentist checks and bonds the new crown to your tooth in a relatively short amount of time.

How Long is a Porcelain Veneers Treatment?

Porcelain veneers often take a little bit longer than metal-free dental crowns. Depending on the state of your teeth and how many veneers you want, it may take three to four visits.

The first visit is a consultation, lasting about an hour. Your dentist will assess your teeth and discuss your goals. They’ll develop a treatment plan if you’re a good fit for veneers.

Treatment often starts during the next appointment. Your second visit will focus on the prep work needed for veneers. Your dentist prepares your teeth and takes dental impressions for your permanent veneers. You’ll finish the visit by being placed with temporary veneers while your permanent ones are crafted.

Like dental crowns, your dentist works with a dental lab to create custom veneers, which will be ready after a few weeks. On your last visit, your dentist will take just a little while to place your permanent veneers, and then you’ll be prepared to show off your new pearly whites! You may return for a follow-up visit to make any adjustments if needed.

Which cosmetic dental treatment to consider depends on your smile and goals. Minor imperfections can be fixed in about an hour, while major ones can take multiple visits. Ultimately, whichever treatment you get can help you feel more confident in your smile for a long time!
